The Emona Capital team consists of senior professionals with complementary skills and proven international track records, having invested over $2 billion over the last two decades.
We combine decades of professional experience with blue-chip investment banks, hedge funds, private equity and restructuring firms (Merrill Lynch, UBS, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Elliott, Och-Ziff, Insight Venture Partners, General Atlantic, Warburg Pincus, McKinsey, Alix Partners).

Managing Partner
Dominik Dolenec
Dominik has 25 years of investment and advisory experience. Prior to founding Emona Capital in 2013, Dominik was an associate portfolio manager with Elliott Advisors in London, a global special situation hedge fund with $70bn of AUM. Earlier in his career he worked at Insight Partners, General Atlantic Partners and McKinsey & Co.
Dominik holds an MBA from INSEAD and graduated summa cum laude from the Management and Technology Programme at the University of Pennsylvania.

Paolo Amato
Paolo is an experienced senior finance executive, with over 25 years of diversified international management practice in various sectors, including transportation/logistics/infrastructure, industrial and technology and in several geographies such as the Americas, broader Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific. He has a broad set of general management/leadership skills, developed throughout his extensive senior executive and non-executive practice with constant focus on value creation, ranging from operational and financial restructuring, M&A/integration management, business development, joint-venture management, and digitalization.

He holds a MBA from Harvard Business School and a BSc. In Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rome La Sapienza.

Michael Moriarty
Prior to joining Emona, Michael was an associate at Warburg Pincus in London where he worked across financial services, consumer, energy, TMT and healthcare teams. He started his career in the leveraged finance group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Michael holds a BSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics.

Taimur Hadi
Taimur is an investment professional and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience across sectors including financial services, telecoms, commodities and real estate. He has worked in investment banking on Wall Street, served as Director of Strategy and Business Development at a telecommunications startup, and set up the first oil futures exchange in the Middle East on behalf of the Government of Dubai. Taimur currently operates an advisory firm based in Dubai, specializing in private equity and special situation investments.

Taimur is a graduate of Dickinson College and holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh.

Mike Hawthorne
Mike has over 20 years of operational leadership experience in multi-national environments, bringing operational excellence in distressed and healthy companies. Recently he has held Interim COO positions in manufacturing companies, acting as a special advisor to AlixPartners.
Mike holds an MBA from INSEAD and a BSc. in Process Chemical Engineering from Manchester, UK

Miha Košak
Miha has over 25 years’ experience in international banking – ranging from corporate banking, investment banking, financial consulting, corporate finance, capital markets and wealth management; he has managed and participated in many important M&A transactions, privatizations and capital raisings in a number of sectors in the UK, EMEA, Russia and Asia.
He holds an MBA from Bocconi University, a Master’s Degree in the Economics of the European Community from the University of Exeter and a BSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (FCSI) in the UK and a holder of the Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma.

David Kubala
David has almost 25 years of senior leadership experience with international corporates in Chemicals, FMCG and Electronics. His expertise ranges from results-oriented general management to M&A, restructurings and private equity. David is currently the General Manager of a leading provider of intelligent industrial solutions and cutting-edge electrotechnical products in Central Europe.
David holds a Masters degree from the University of Economics in Vienna.

Randal Meske
Randal is an international high-tech executive specializing in turnarounds, operations, direct enterprise sales, business development, indirect channels, emerging markets, general management, and leadership team participation. His career has included executive roles with IBM, Lotus Development, Oracle, Citrix Systems, IHS, and Newscycle (a Vista Equity Partners portfolio company).
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the University of North Texas.

Joze Rant
Joze is an entrepreneurial finance professional with almost 20 years of fintech experience. He was instrumental in building paysafecard, one of the most successful payments companies in CEE. Most recently he was CFO of the eCash Division of Paysafe Group (listed on NYSE).

He holds a PhD in Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics from Vienna University of Technology and an MBA from IEDC-Bled School of Management.

Vassil Shtonov
Vassil has over 20 years of experience in finance and technology. He currently leads ContourGlobal's operations in Bulgaria and was formerly Deputy CEO of Blizoo, one of Bulgaria’s largest telecommunications companies (now part of A1). Prior to that he was a senior consultant at McKinsey & Co. and AT Kearney. He also served as Minister of Energy and Economy in the Bulgarian government. Earlier in his career he was a banker at Bear Stearns.

He holds an MBA from MIT Sloan and graduated from the Management and Technology Program at the University of Pennsylvania.

Kamen Zahariev
Kamen has over 25 years of experience in international finance and private equity having held various positions at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He was Head of the Corporate Recovery and Restructuring Team at EBRD for nine years overseeing a significant portfolio of impaired loans and equity investments in Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS.
He holds a PhD in international law from the Academy of Science, Berlin Germany and a degree in international and comparative law from the Moscow Institute of International Relations. He is the author of several publications in German and English on international law and on the legal aspects of banking and finance in Central and Eastern Europe.
